Green Metro Coaches: Bringing Taxi Technology to the Coach Industry

How Mushtaq Ahmed brought his experience from the taxi industry into coaching — and found the technology he had been looking for with Savari

For Mushtaq Ahmed, technology has always been a big part of running a transport business.

Having built Green Metro Cars into an established taxi operation in Reading, Mushtaq had spent years working with sophisticated technology designed specifically for the taxi industry.

When he expanded into coaches and minibuses, he expected the same level of technology.

What he found was a very different landscape.

From taxis to coaches

Mushtaq had spent years developing his taxi business and was used to systems that could handle complex operations, real-time information and a high level of automation.

As Green Metro moved into coach and minibus operations, he tried several transport management systems, including ECM and PH Cloud.

But the experience wasn’t what he had become accustomed to in the taxi world.

The systems felt different.

The technology wasn’t at the same level.

And for someone who had spent years using advanced taxi technology, it was difficult to understand why the coach industry was still working with systems that felt several steps behind.

Finding something different

That changed when Mushtaq discovered Savari.

What immediately stood out was that Savari wasn’t simply trying to digitise existing coach processes.

It had been built with a different approach.

Savari was designed around the way modern transport businesses actually operate — bringing together bookings, scheduling, drivers, vehicles, communication, automation and live information in one connected platform.

For Mushtaq, that was important.

He could see the same type of technological thinking he had become accustomed to in the taxi industry, but applied specifically to coaches and minibuses.

Supporting a growing operation

Green Metro Coaches has continued to grow and now operates a fleet of around 27 vehicles from its base in Reading.

As the fleet has grown, so has the amount of work involved in managing bookings, customers, drivers and vehicles.

Savari has helped Green Metro bring that operation into one system, giving Mushtaq and his team greater visibility while reducing the amount of manual administration involved in running the business.

Rather than simply helping Green Metro manage the operation it already had, Savari has provided the technology platform to support the next stage of its growth.

Built for operators who expect more from technology

For Mushtaq, the attraction of Savari isn’t simply having a cloud-based TMS.

It’s about having technology that feels like it belongs in a modern transport business.

The taxi industry has been using sophisticated technology for years — from live vehicle tracking and automated customer communication to digital bookings and real-time operational information.

Mushtaq knew what was possible.

He wasn’t prepared to settle for less simply because he was operating coaches.

Savari gave him an alternative.

A system built specifically for the coach industry, but with the same modern approach to technology that he had come to expect from his taxi operation.

Looking ahead

Green Metro Coaches is continuing to grow, and Savari is supporting the business as that growth continues.

For Mushtaq, the journey from taxis into coaches has demonstrated something important: the technology available to coach operators shouldn’t have to lag behind the rest of the transport industry.

Savari was built to close that gap.

And as Green Metro continues to develop its operation, we’re proud to be providing the technology behind it.

Built by operators, for operators.
